Start the New Year off right with our January Programs and Events
A  NOTE FROM THE DIRECTOR

Dear Friends,

As we welcome the new year, we want to wish you and your loved ones a very happy, healthy New Year. We are so grateful for the continued support of our community and look forward to another year of learning, connection, and meaningful programs at the library.

We hope you’ll join us on January 10th for our first Community Wellness Day, a special opportunity to start the year by focusing on well-being, connection, and care for ourselves and one another.

We’re also excited to share that we continue to make progress toward bringing a Library on Wheels to our community. This mobile library will allow us to reach more neighbors and expand access to programs and resources across Dripping Springs. If you haven’t already, we hope you’ll consider donating to help make this dream a reality.

Curious about the progress of our new library building? Watch for quarterly opportunities to sign up for our  State of the Library updates, where we will share recent progress, highlight key milestones, and celebrate the many exciting things taking shape. One of those initiatives is our Library on Wheels, an exciting opportunity to make an immediate impact in our community and the perfect complement to our future library building. We’re thrilled to share that in just four weeks, we have raised over 30 percent of our goal to bring this mobile library to Dripping Springs, allowing us to reach more neighbors and expand access to programs and resources across our community. If you haven’t already, we hope you’ll consider donating to help bring everything our library has to offer out into the community.

This year we lost a dear member of our community, Marie Kimbrough, our children's librarian for over 18 years.  Please take a moment to read about how she touched the lives of so many in our community and her outstanding contributions to the library,  She will be greatly missed by all.

Thank you for being such an important part of our library community. We look forward to seeing you in the library in the year ahead!

With gratitude,
Mindy Laird
Library Executive Director

It is with deep sadness that we share the news of the passing of Marie Kimbrough, who served as the Dripping Springs Community Library’s Children’s Librarian for 18 years. Marie joined the library in 2006 and quickly became a beloved part of our community. Her joy, creativity, and unwavering dedication helped spark a love of reading in countless children, many of whom she watched grow up.

One of Marie’s greatest accomplishments was bringing the Mother Goose on the Loose program to our library. Her energetic storytelling, music, and playful early-literacy activities created a magical experience for babies, toddlers, and their caregivers. For many families, these sessions were a cherished weekly tradition and a joyful introduction to the world of books.

As we honor Marie’s memory, we invite patrons to share their stories, reflections, or notes of remembrance. If you or your children were touched by her work, please consider writing a letter to celebrate the moments she helped create. These messages will be gathered and shared with Marie’s family as a tribute to her extraordinary service to our community.

Letters may be dropped off at the front desk or emailed to the library at director@dscl.org

Marie will be dearly missed, and we are grateful for the many ways she enriched the lives of our patrons and staff.
