April 2023 Letter from our Director!
Greetings!
National Poetry Month is here! Check out this website to sign up for a poem each day this month and mark your calendar for April 12 for our program from noon to 1pm. You can read your own poem and/or listen to Central Texas poets read theirs. And, remember National Library Week even though I know that this community does not need encouragement to read or listen to the next title on your list! Take care and happy reading/listening!

TEEN READING BUDDIES
NEEDED
THIS SUMMER
Summer is approaching fast, and the library is already preparing for Summer Reading! Our annual Reading Buddy program will take place again this summer and we will need teen volunteers to make it successful.
Reading Buddies pairs each teen with a 1-3 grader for a half hour of reading encouragement. This is not a tutoring session. Our goal is to make reading fun!
If you are interested in being a Teen Reading Buddy this summer, submit your volunteer application in person or through our website at https://www.dscl.org/faqs/teen-volunteers/. There will be a mandatory orientation session at the end of May for all teens. Applications for Teen Buddies will be accepted through May 12th.
Minors (children ages 17 and under) must be accompanied by an adult to programs that occur outside of the Library's normal operating hours. |
